I cannot locate a knife steel supplier here in Washington State. The shipping is almost as much as the steel! Any suggestions?

TIA

Take care!! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Yep, I just ordered about $100 from Admiral and the shipping was only $10, about the same as sales tax if I bought it locally at Crucible. One thing to watch for at Admiral. They have a note that you will be billed for the actual length shipped so they do not have small waste pieces left over. That seems fair, but I assumed when I saw it that they were talking about one or two inches - that had been the case on past orders. On this order I had one piece that was 10 inches longer than ordered and another that was 15 inches longer. Not a big problem since I will use it, but the extra $20 was kind of a shock to the debit card I used to pay for it. I think in the future I will probably add a note specifying a range of length for each piece

If your working spring steel, 1095, 5160,1080 etc. Security Steel Supply 800-222-5160, Fax 815-933-1414 is the place to go, beats the hell out of Admiral's prices! My last bill was $66.50/cwt. Freight ran $33.80/cwt. I bet you would like a couple hundred pounds sent to you huh, Tom!
