Steel sizes

John, I drew up a beauty last night but am worried about the steel. The blade would be 7.5" x 2" and 1/8" thick. Can you get steel that size in that thickness?
Also, would steel 2" tall and that thin be too flexible to be useful? It would strictly be a kitchen knife.

That size is available. outdoorsfan has a knife I made with about a 7" blade, 1/8" thick, and has used it with no problem.

Try Admiral Steel.......They have it.......Or stop over at my house and i will give you a piece that size....carl

That will be plenty tough enough buddy, the wider the blade the stiffer it is.
