Steel sources and opinions

Good morning all. Being new to this whole knife making world, I was just looking for some information. I am looking for sources of knife steel, and your opinions on different materials. I have small experience with D2 received fram a buddy and used the stock removal method to make up a knife. worked pretty well. But I see all these other steel typed just looking for opinions and good steel sources. thanks in advance... matty
