Steel Suggestions

I ordered a couple knives from Gene Ingram, these will be my first customs
the blade sizes range from 2'' to 4'' should I stay with the D2 or request something else ???

D2 is a great steel. Unless hes going to do some in ZDP189 you really cant go wrong.
