It's very frustrating to me that though 1080/84 steel is so highly recommended for those of us who do home heat treating and beginners in general, that this steel seems so hard to find.

There must be a reason. It is probably not used much in industry? Why would that be? Can anyone shed light on this dilemma I'm having please?

I'm not asking for names of dealers who sell it, I'm just wondering why it is not more readily available.

It's obsolete for industrial use. Aldo has arranged to get special melts poured.
