The order for my custom 110 (420HC, NS bolsters, sambar stag, engraving) is still pending. Today, I changed the steel to ATS 34. I wanted something a bit more special than the standard steel offering because this is my first custom knife and the first knife personalized with any engraving. The motivation to switch doesn't run any deeper than that. I was stuck between ATS 34 and BG 42. The service rep reccommeded ATS 34 for a hunting knife. I felt compelled to share my excitement.

I can't wait to get it.

I have a blade-exchange knife with ATS-34, and it is suwweeeet!

Post some pics when it gets here.

Its going...going...almost gone. :)
To clarify, it can ONLY be ordered as an option on a new knife through the custom shop. We don't do the blade swaps anymore.

Hi Joe,

Can you add your last statment to the blade swap sticky? :(

I quoted it and moved it up there for you JB :D
Hope everyone likes it :D

Cool beens Jim,

However, it reads....."We don't do blade swaps any more"!!! There is no reference to BG-42 in the last statement. That's why I asked Joe for clarification to be added to the blade swap sticky. Perhaps I'm reading more into it than he intended

Last night, I dreamed that my knife arrived. When I woke up - no knife. :grumpy:

Hay Mean Bunny:p ,

That new 110 will be to you soon.......and you will need to post many pic's. That will be as cloose to BG-42 as I will ever get:( .

Why didn't you order one with BG-42?? Are they all gone already??

Well it sounds like the BG-42 is selling out fast. Yes I could order from the custom shop.......but, I'm saving my penny's for the new "07" knives and the BCCI knives that will be for sale this year :D . I'm more into the limited edition bucks......  . I may find a BG-42 I just have to have.....for sale one day. No worries from me.....I have a few of the S30V 110's and they work awesome.

I told the Buck rep I was stuck between BG42 and ATS-34 and that the knife was for hunting. She reccommended ATS-34 for that so I went with her suggestion. I trust that Buck would not give me a false reccommendation based on any desire to conserve BG42.

Did you ask her what types of big game she had gutted with her Buck knife??? :D

Not to knock woman hunters...but how many Moose/Deer/Bear wander through an office??? :p :D

I'm going to pick up a plain jane 110 today. I think I'll make that my House Knife. That's the knife I use for cutting the random odds and ends around the house. I don't want the CS 110 to be lonely when it arrives.

If it's a store with the yellowbox 110's (like Wal-Mart), ask if you can look at the knife...especially the tang stamp...there is usually a couple of different years in any given store...take a copy of the vintage page from the Buck Knives site...(I can never remember what the marks are...or which ones i don't have!)...
