Hi All,
I'm looking for trivia, specifically for individual steel alloys(used in knives). Any information about the alloy such as who invented it, when it was invented, who used first, reason(s) for development, curious facts, how it was named, etc.
As you might know, I'm developing/maintaining Knife Steel Chart (Desktop Browser version);
Plus mobile apps for the same chart:
Whenever I have relevant info available, it is attached to a steel info record in the note section. However, at this time the chart already has ~6000 alloys in it, and that's a lot of information to manage.
Obviously I don't' have all the info and I am sure community has a lot more. Whenever I find something interesting on the net I add it to the database, but between collecting steel reference data and coding 3 platforms I don't have much of a free time left.
If you are unsure what's already there easiest way to check is to go to Knife Steel Comparison Graph Builder and find the alloy in there, or you can mouse over alloy name in the knife steel chart itself.
If you have anything that might be relevant please contact me via PM or post here. Like I said, there are a lot of things that would be interesting for the readers/user to have in the notes section, please share the wisdom
