Hi,

I am having a go at making a couple of knives at the moment and I am using some ATS34 that I bought back from the USA on a trip last year, plus I have a couple of pieces of Micarta but once this runs out I will be stuck. Does anyone know what steel I should be looking for here in the UK - someone mentioned A4 but that doesn't mean a lot to me.

Also I need a Micarta replacement as as far as I know you can't get that here either. Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Hi Mark:
Dont really know what to recommend. I was born British myself. Now live in Kelowna, B.C. Canada. I can sympathize with you some what. Knife making is not as big here as it is in the U.S. & I have a hard time getting some supplies myself & have to mail order for a lot of my stuff. Some times as far away as Florida. It is inconvenient & of course more expensive. You may have to do the same for some of your stuff. There are quite a few knife supply comps. that you can find through your computer I'm sure. In the mean time, I would get on the phone & start calling steel companies & plastic manufacturers to see what you can come up with.... Good luck
