Was INFI used on the basic series like the basic 5, 7 etc?? or was it another different kind of steel??

And before you ask the next logical question, let me pre-empt you--I asked Skunk or Garth a long time ago about the differences btwn Mod-INFI and INFI. The response was basically that unless you are a metallurigist, you will never be able to tell the difference, to include actual use performance differences.

All I know is: That link last week on how Jerry cut some rope 2,500 times with the same blade in teh same spot. . . was with a Basic series knife.

I've got a 9 and a 5. If it wasn't for price, I'd consider anotehr 5 and a 7, just for yucks.

Yup. I've got a 5 and if I ever have to sell off my Busses (and I've got a few good ones), it will be the one I don't sell.

Thanks for the info guys...

Dennis, you were talking about price.... how much are these going on the secondary market?? mint or otherwise?? cos I have not seen any for sale in a while..

A few months ago a basic 3 went for 50 in the exchnage, but you probably wont find that deal again. I recently saw a basic 9 go for almost 300, partially because of a 50$ shipping charge from Australia. A basic 5 or 7 could run you 250 give or take a 20 or two.

Or as some other Hog mentioned, "Modified INFI stays sharp forever, INFI stays sharp forever and a day..."

:D

The Basics are greatly under Valued.

I keep buying them and giving them as gifts.

It seems I will be giving at least three as Christmas gifts this year, a couple of #9s and a #7, although I have also been asked for a #5.

I am currently down to ten of the Basics so will be prolly getting a few more soon.

As I said, Great gifts for people that like the Handles.

One of these will likely be Deploying to Iraq in January on the Belt of a Marine
Sgt, Don't know if I can say what her Job is, Guess I need to check on that.

She is Family by Way of I married her Uncle's Step Daughter and we want her to have a good knife,I can say I suppose that her job Both Rolls and goes Boom and that she will be in Harm's Way.

Maybe More later, I just found out last night, she is welcome to some thing with Micarta if she so chooses, she may even end up with one of my Wife's Knives.
