I recently recieved a Steel Warrior Saddlehorn, and my opinion is that these knives are definitely the best value on the market today, without doubt.

A very nicely done review has already been done, so I will just link to it instead of reinventing the wheel:

http://www.rod-neep.co.uk/rod/knives/reviews/steel-warrior1/index.html

Everything said in that review holds true for the knife I recieved.

Here also is a link to a site that these knives can be ordered from :

No need to take someone else's word for it, order one or two for yourself and make up your own mind.

I have no association with Steel Warrior knives or either of the two sites I have provided links to.

That is a nice looking knife, I would be interested in the general construction durability after extended use, as well as edge retention, ease of sharpening and quality of edge taking.

Yes, they are very well done. The fit & finish are truly first rate. It's pretty unbelievable, actually.
No blade play, action is fairly smooth, if a bit stiff, and the backsprings are nice & strong.

These days, I am just using knives that I get, to determine for myself if they are suitable for me, for what I need a knife for day in & day out, so it takes quite awhile before I can say anything about edge holding.

I can tell you that the Saddlehorn was shaving sharp out of the box, and using a Sharpmaker put a hair popping edge on both blades with ease.

I'll carry it around with me and use it when I need it, but really, I'm not a hardcore "tester" anymore, so there is little doubt it will be suitable for me, esepcially since it's easily sharpened.

I had one of those. You can't beat them for the price! I think it cost $7.00? I ended up giving it to one of my students from Denmark. She was fascinated by knives. She said she didn't know that knives could be such useful tools! So, before she left I gave her a green bone Steel Warrior Saddlehorn. I thought it was a good as a Case TB saddlehorn I have.

Agreed, I bought 3 of them a few months ago and they really are amazing for the money.

I have not used them too much but I threw them in vehicles and gave one to my wife for her purse.

HOLY COW!!! Those are cheap....
PLEASE tell me they're high carbon, and not stainless crap.
PLEASE!!!

Stainless crap, same or similar to Case.
Actually, mine seems better.

I haven't had to sharpen my saddlehorn yet, and it's seen as much use as my Case Sowbelly that I've had to touch up twice in the same period of time.

They are purported to be 440C with a Rockwell around 58. Like the Pumas of old, they have the indentation from the RC penetrator right on the blade. I bought a tiny toothpick for the girlfriend. It's nice. Little gem of a thing. I've had to touch it up several times, but it appears that she cuts bricks and glass or something with it :D

After reading this thread, I figured what the hell ! ! ! For the money, it's really a no lose situation.

So over to eBay and I've got a Steel Warrior SaddleHorn on the way in the red bone.

I'll let you fellas know how the knife turns out.

They're more than likely 440a or 440j2, which is a big difference. Trust me, if they were spending the extra money for 440c it would be etched all over the blade because 440c is a premium steel.

I think the better edge holding may be more related to a higher RC on the heat treat.

I think you'll be pretty impressed for the money. Everyone should try just one to see what kind of value they are.

Hello All

Well I ordered a Steel Warrior SaddleHorn after reading this thread and review it referenced.

It arrived today and I'm very pleased with the knife. Everything in the review was bang on. The fit and finish is great and the blades came pretty sharp.

Had i paid twice the price (9.99 from eBay), I would still be a happy camper.

I'll be putting the knife into my EDC rotation (it's very sheeple friendly) and will report back afterward with an update.

Cool little knife, makes me want to see what else the Steel Warrior line offers.

Bottom line, this little knife is tough to beat for the money.

OK, ya'll talked me into ordering one myself this morning. The 2 blade Trapper is my favorite pattern, but I have never owned a Saddlehorn model.

For $12.00 total, I get to try out a new knife company and a new pattern for me.

Can't beat that!

Got mine today and you guys were right, they are really great for the money, RAZOR sharp and the fit and finish are perfect.
