Gekko.JPG Gekko2.JPG I just bought this knife second hand here on the sale forum. I was not familiar with Steel Will knives. But I liked the look of the knife and what looked like higher-end fit and finish. I've never owned a knife with N690Co so I was interested in that as well. Finally, I've always been a fan of lockbacks which are not that common anymore. So I bought it.

I got it the other day and have been carrying it since (bumping a Benchmade 940-1). What a exceptionally well executed knife. F&F is fantastic and ergonomics are perfect for my hand. I have a bit of a thing for red micarta too even if it is a little heavy.

The blade opens with ease and locks up tight, no movement at all. There's jimping on a thumb ramp that just feels perfect and jimping of the lockback release. The blade was razor sharp. I used it for my steak last night and it is a fine slicer. I'll have to get back to this thread after I've used it enough to need a sharpening. Right now, this steel is living up to its praise as a higher-end mid-range steel.

I'm really pleased with this knife. Great design and fine execution. I assume Fox in Italy built it for Steel Will. I think if you haven't taken a look at this Gekko and you are someone who likes a premium folder at a fair price, then you should. I'm delighted with this one. I expect more Steel Will/Fox knives are in my future. g

This is pretty much my experience with my black mini-Gekko. It was my first try with N690Co. Now I have a Bradford G3 in N690 and it also performs very well in the small FB role. My Steel Will had excellent F&F and solid lockup as well. And I like mid-spine lockbacks, too. Easy to work with either hand and very dependable when done by a reputable company.

I am hooked on Steel Will. I have both Gekkos and the Apostate. I am on preorder For the Gekkos in M390 that are coming out soon. I'll probably sell mine to help offset the cost but if I could afford to I would keep all 4.
If you like a large knife The Apostate is a great one. It's blade is S35VN It deploys as well as knives at twice the price and closes amazing. Rock solid and absolutely no play. The blade is actually the same length as the Gekko 1500 series but the handle is longer. It's made in China but you would never know it. The execution is perfect. I think the are a great company and hopefully they will continue.

I forgot I ordered a Viper Kyomi CF and it has the N690Co. That came today and the only thing that jumps out is the blade doesn't really like flipping out. Maybe needs a little break-in work. I think this is another Fox knife. It is also a well executed knife except for the stiff flipper. It is nice but will not be bumping the Gekko.

You made a great choice. There is something about the knives action that difficult to explain. They have a smoothness and tight feel and still open and close beautifully. It's one of those things that is much easier to show than explain. Enjoy the knife.

Given the fact I'm currently enamored with the Mini-Gekko, could resist the full size Gekko 1503 NIB for $110 shipped.
I'm very interested if the big brother is as awesome as the Mini.

The 1503 came in the mail today. It is one big honking folder.
This full size Gekko is the business. I guess I'll be playing with it for a few days before I make to many comments.
Impressive knife to be sure.

I know this is old but it’s one of the few gekko threads I’ve found. Have any of you ever made your own choil in this? Seems like it’s begging to have one.
