Steel Will Intrigue (large version)

I picked up one today, and it is the nicest knife design yet by Steel Will. It has open back construction and it very light and narrow. I believe Gideon’s Tactical said it reminded him of a BM 940 in its overall dimensions, and I can see that, however, it is no copy. Other than a thin liner lock, nothing about this knife looks cheap. With its heavy blade and bronze washers, it flips like a ZT! It is also razor sharp with D2 steel. I got mine for $45 and change at GPK. I imagine that will be the price, give or take a few dollars, everywhere.

I will have to make a video tomorrow. My photos are too large to download.

It's a good-looking knife. Kind of a Ken-Onion-on-his-better-days style. If it flips as well as you say, it should be a winner at that price.

I just got the smaller version and I'm impressed. Strong detent and good flipper design makes the blade fly out. Liner locks up early and solidly.
I bought it because I like the design. Very well executed and a bargain.

I've been considering the small Steel Will Intrigue, but am surprised that they haven't moved to ball bearing pivots instead of still using bronze washers. Does the Intrigue flip as easily as knives with ball bearing pivots? Does the D2 come really sharp? I sharpen D2 well, but it is a pain. Glad it holds it's edge as well as it does.

Mine came sharp but the edge angle is rather obtuse. I'll definitely lower the angle when I sharpen it.
No, it doesn't flip like a knife on bearings. But to make it "fail" you have to do so intentionally. It flips easily. Since it's on washers it will likely get smoother over time. I believe they used washers to keep the cost down. The Italian versions will run on bearings.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably pass on the Intrigue. Just curious how does the edge and flip compare with the Cutjack?
