What is the best carbon steel to use when all you have is a gas forge to use.I prefer 1095 when buying what do you suggest

1084 is the way to go because it's Eutectoid

1084 is the best for me when I can find it. 1095 when there is no 1084 around. 1084 is a very friendly steel to use!
