Steel?

Got two Schrade stockmen, one is a Ducks Unlimited medium to small stockman, with wood scales. The other is a 34OT I picked up on my birthday, was mint on package. Both made in USA, look to be fairly recent. Any idea if they are stainless? Carbon steel? 440A, 420HC?

Impossible to say without seeing them up close. The last of them were stainless, 420hc if I remember correctly. The packaging gives substantial clues to the dates of manufacture. You can look on the Schrade collector archive site to I.D. the year of the DU issue. The link is at the top of this forum in the sticky "Open For Viewing". It is an ever expanding labor of love by forum member LRV, Larry for short. Nowhere else on the web is there a larger library resource for Schrade collector research.

I still have the box for the Ducks Unltd stockman, but I chucked the blister pack for the 34OT. Should still have the warranty booklet.
