I hope this works, if it does here is a fishing knife I made for a friend.

Nope schucks, I have never been able to put a picture up. Until Now! Thanks Guys!

Bruce, www.villagephotos.com also has free hosting. Just upload your pictures and they have a tag by the picture that says copy url. click on that and then past it between the img tags here on the forums and it should work ok. You may already know all this but if you need any assistance shoot me an email me and I will walk you through it or give me a call. 801-318-3352.

Hope this helps. I really want to see this knife. Ive sent you an email

Having a paid membership, you can directly upload the foto to your image storage here on BF, and don't necessarily need another hosting site. When you create a new post, scroll down until you see "Manage Attachments" and click on it. This will pop up a browse screen that allows you to find it on your computer; provided it meets the size requirements and format, you can then upload it to BF. After you do this and then click "submit", it will show a clickable thumbnail on your post.

To have the fullsize image show whenever the thread is opened, I think one still needs to use a separate host.

Ive been a paid member several years and truthfully have never used it to advertise or sell anything because I cant put up images from my hard drive. I can link to my website by copy and paste the url but what I really need to learn is how to resize and format pictures and attach them to my posts. How do I size them to 600x800? I have photoshop program.

I have no reason to be on these forums other than to look and admire the beautiful knives you put up but i can help bruce lightly in this department
open the picture in Photoshop and then resize the image by going to image>image size
you are then able to resize the pic under ____ height or ____width
if you keep the ratio they will be in proportion to the original
then save the file (preferably under a new filename otherwise you will lose the original resolution_)
choose the format (JPG is the most widely used...)
and then quality (self explanatory)
and done
then upload

thanks for all the pretty pictures...

If you have photoshop, i think the best way to resize and get the pic you want is to use the crop tool. Set the crop dimensions to what you want, then box off what you want. When you crop, it will resize from whatever it was and crop a resulting image to the specifications you set.

Throw that up on your website in any directory. Then note the actual link to that image such as:
www.yourwebsite.com/image.jpg

Then in your message here type:
image.jpg

The easiest way in PS is to put the image in PS, Go to Image at the top then scroll down to Image Size. Now type in the size you want it to be. A good size might be 600 x 400 Pixels. Then save.

OK! go back up and check out my thumbnail! Im so proud of myself! I used Marcus's advice and it worked! Yahooo

Hey Bruce, the wait for the picture was worth it! Great looking knife and very usable design. What steel do you use? I have been making a few filet knives from ATS34 and often wondered if that is the thing to be doing. Tool steels just cut flesh so much better but are guaranteed to rust.

I use ATS 34 with Paul Bos HT. The feedback I get is great. I think plain carbon may work as well and be easy to sharpen but I cant stand to see them stained.

Nice knife, Bruce. Glad you got it posted; sort of a little epiphany once you post your first foto, isn't it! :)

How flexible is that knife?

Sam: It is Bos treated ATS 34

Mike: Yes now that I know how to post pics There will be no living with me.
It is plenty flexable as it is 1/16" stock and has a gentle taper all the way to the tip. The neat thing is it can be thinned more to give it more flex if the customer requests. All the blade grinding is done after heat treating. Just be sure there are no stress risers when flex testing.
