I recently got two Emerson, one CQC 7 from 2013 and one CQC 8 from 2009. The older one has one thicker line in ti and one in steel. Are the newer knives steel on both sides? The CQC 8 looks like it is ...

Lock side is always titanium. After a certain period (early teens IIRC) they made the steel non-lock as thick as the titanium lock side.
