Steels I'd like to see....

I would love to have an Endura custom option in steels like 10XX, L6, O1, etc. Just because I like these steels and the Endura.

The Super Blue Endura isn't too far off. I've used 1084, 1095, O1 and L6, that being said, I think SB is a better steel. I think from my use, it holds it's fine edge longer than the others mentioned. Results may vary, though.

I think what I meant was older American steels. I am familiar with Super Blue....but that is not what I want.

I kinda fail to see the point of using what could be thought as a ''hard use'' steel in the endura platform. I love mine in VG10, mine is used daily in the kitchen and cutting certain veggies is already pushing it quite a bit on the lock bar. It would be awesome to see the Para2 get M4 I think. Some Deep blue G10 scales would be awesome too :)

The Endura probably wouldn't be the best platform to do that with since it's made in Japan and they may not want to work with those steels. As far as I know, All of the Japan-made Spydercos utilize Japanese steel only. It is an interesting idea for sure.

But wouldn't a Golden made Endura in L6 just oooze the term ...."America.....F**k Yeah"......?

would it also sport G10 scales? cause I'd buy 3 of those right there lol

It certainly would be cool, but I don't think they'll be re-organizing their production line in Colorado for that. We cold ''lobby'' Sal for a special sprint of their US made line tough. :D I have many spydercos, but yet have to add a Para2 to my collection. I'd love to get one that could get a patina on.

All Sal would have to do is sign some paper thingy and poof!!! Golden made, G10 Endura with an L6 blade.....:D

I'd imagine Sal wishes things work that easy. I'm all for non stainless alloys but I wouldn't expect to see Golden made Enduras. I'm very happy with the VG10, ZDP, and especially super blue Enduras and I actually prefer the FRN to G10 in these knives.

That being said Sal has done some pretty surprising things over the years. The Super Blue Enduras ( and the rest of the super blue models) were pretty surprising to me. There had been nothing like them ever made before. I imagine it took some negotiating with vendors to get them done. That is pretty far out of their usual comfort zone. They turned out pretty well and those tungsten carbides in the super blue give it a nice bite, and pretty darn good wear resistance compared to simple carbon steels like 1095. Maybe not as tough though with such a high carbon content.

Still, people asking Sal for things over the years have led to some really great knives. The super blue knives are proof of that, as is the Cruwear Millie, and the whole mule team program just to name some of them. Sal does listen to us. :)

My family lives in Golden, and my wife and I will be there for Thanksgiving. They live 5 minutes from Spyderco.....I am thinking of wearing a monkey suit....I'll just dance in the parking lot till I get what I want :D

I'd like to see M4, K390, and S110V in a PM2. Are there any other high-performance Japanese steels we could possibly see in the D4/E4 platforms in future sprints?

Isn't Sal the knife genie? I can't remember exactly but.... if you rub him the right way he might grant your knife wishes!

Thanks for making some of the BEST production knives out there for a very reasonalbe price!!!!! Also, thanks for taking the time to sooth the masses of obsessive knife addicts.

Poof, new enginering, poof, new tooling, poof squeeze it into an already over burdened schedule. yeah.

sal

Due to production limits it would probably take a couple of years or more but a Para2 and/or Millie in K390 or S110V and Navy Blue G10 handles would be :thumbup:

These steels might be to hard on man and machine to work with but CPM 10 and 15 would make some interesting Mules.

You could find a 52100 Mule and turn it into a folder! I have a feeling that's about the closest you'll ever get to a simple US carbon steel Endura:p
