Most of you have seen A steer's head represented on the handle of a Cattle Knife. I am going to have one Scrimshawed (scrimmed?) onto an Ivory handle, and would like to see some nice examples. In the process, we can enjoy some of these rare birds - err - - cows here in a thread. Please post yours, or a good representation of one (or more) if you can find them. I've seen some cool ones, but they are elusive.
Here are the two I have; The Queen has its image placed on a handle which is made of a plastic based on, of all things MILK!

The other is a bas relief - sculpted Bone handle.

Please enjoy these, and post what you have!

Charlie, scrimming is fun, tedious but rewarding, i think a slipjoint handle would be tough though as the surface is small and radiused, but i'm definitely not a pro... Ive done just a few larger pieces (more forgiving)
Sounds like a great idea and Look forward to seeing the finished piece.

Nice looking knives. I'd like to get the image above scrimmed onto one.

I've always liked this one. It's not from a cattle knife, but it fits your general theme and should give you ideas.

Wow! Some great images showing up!
Thanks so far, my friends!!

Thanks Barry! That square-bolstered knife is a sweet machine!!

There′s also a Queen made Robeson "cattle knife" with etched buffalo horn and a GEC "cattle rancher" with etched bone.

Thanks for the research, Jake! You da man!!

These will all provide info for the artist.

Does anyone know who did the first Cattle knife with a Steer head embossed on it? Was it Robeson?? Keen??

Thanks, Brad, for reminding me of this pic!

From the book, "Sheffield Exhibition Knives"

Sometimes you see a cow with a broken horn or one bent down while the other is up. Be the first to have an asymmetrical cow skull on your knife.

I've been told that KeenKutter embossed a Steer head on a white plastic Cattle knife.

Anyone have one?????

Email me a pic if you cannot post pics, and I will post it forthwith. Thanks whoever you are!:D
