Steingass/Loveless Piker

I have a Loveless design Piker made by TK Steingass. Beautiful little knife and I really have enjoyed it, but have often wondered why Loveless named it the Piker. I have researched it with no results.
I think it is a great "Bird and Trout" pattern, maybe cleaning Pike??

Any ideas?

Maybe piker was a reference to a spear-carrier in ancient fighting formations....
 
Well I've heard the term used in reference to a tender foot or amateur or someone who isn't to good at something. If the knife is small perhaps its a riff on that...

a picture would be nice, for the folks that have no idea of what that style looks like
 
I found a pic but couldn't post it. Look on the Current Loveless Knife Web Site under Special Use knives. I posted the question to them but the guy didn't have clue ??!!
