Gentlemen:

For your comment is this new design - the SSD, which stands for Steingass Silent Dagger. It is my rendition of the venerable Fighting Commando Knife V-42 Stiletto in Presentation Grade CPM D-2/Koa and a Tactical Grade with matte black Cerakote CPM D-2/Black Micarta. The original had a blade width of .750" - this version is .950" wide. The soldered guard is enhanced from the original to swept back/sculptured - the sculptured guard aids location of the thumb to the ricasso thumb grooves which have been deeply machined into the ricasso. The guard is sculptured on one side as is the thumb depression - this aids in correct hand placement during deployment of the blade in the dark. The fuller is machined into both sides - the convex tip is built up to aid in penetration and prevent tip breakage that was typical of the original V-42. The premium Koa has been stabilized by K&G - the handle is set with G-Flex epoxy onto a full tang - secured by the pommel.

The sheath is similar to the original in shape but more refined - the tip has been extended and a thong hole inserted to allow strapping the knife to the thigh. The loop for the sheath will fit up to a 2" belt. The handle shape and skull crusher pommel maintain the original theme. The Tactical Grade will be made as a Vanguard series and sold exclusively through Robertson's Custom Cutlery. The Presentation Grade will be made on special order.
All comments are welcome.

Take care,

TK

Very nice, like 'em both! No wood beats koa for me, and that's some very good koa.
