What happens to stellite in ferric chloride? Has anyone tried to etch or use an acid on stellite? I am interested in the corrosion resistance in general and specifically the resistance it has to weak and strong acids. Thanks, Ig

I think a lot of David Boye's cobalt knives get etched, but I don't know what acid is used...maybe ask him?

I cannot find him on BF, likely my lack in e-skills. Anyone have a contact or information regarding corrosion resistance or etch please? Thank you

I don't know if he's on BF, I'd contact him through his website.

Camillus appears to laser etch their Talonite (Stellite 6-BH) blades.
Darrel Ralph laser etched his logo into this custom Stellite 6-K blade. I had another guy add the Gothic 6-K with a laser.
These blades are about 1/2 Chrome and 1/2 Cobalt and very resistant to corrosion probably more so than Carpenter 20 (320 stainless steel).
320 SS is used to make the chambers in which 98% H2SO4 (Sulfuric Acid) is produced.
