Anyone know what the uv etching stencils use for developer fluid? I ran out of fluid and matronics wants $40 shipping for a small $ 10 bottle. Plus I'd have to pay duty. Looking for other options.

I've tried looking up photo developing fluid and uv stencil developer fluid and get a lot of beauty creams and odd results. I have a feeling it's something simple as it just has to dissolve the undeveloped part. Maybe I'll look into the glass etching world

The link from etch-o-matic gave me $17 for shipping the $10 bottle. I use http://www.img-electromark.com/ and their shipping is less. Not sure if their developer will work with your stencils or not, but it does work good with their stencil material.

Scott, what part of the world are you in for shipping to be $40?

The MSDS for the developer is here. The only substance listed is sodium carbonate. I guess it could have some other ingredients that do not require listing because they are not harmful. If sodium carbonate is the active ingredient and not just there to raise pH for some other ingredient to do the work, you can probably make it at home. IIRC, if you bake baking soda, you end up with sodium carbonate. I made some a few years ago to use for making ramen noodles.

I'll give the sodium bicarbonate a shot. Hey Ken. I'm in Canada and normally ship this stuff to a PO box I have across the border but with Covid I'm stuck. I just tried the pricing again but this on my computer and I got $20 shipping. Not sure why it was different on my tablet. The other issue is the duties coming across. USPS isn't bad I've had UPS charge $45 on a $4 dollar item.

I'll give a few different concoctions a try and see if any wash ways the unexposed stencil but doesn't hurt the developed parts. Thanks guys.
