Stencil types ?

I just made an etchingmachine and it works just fine. 24v AC/DC 5amp. Then I bought some very expencive electrolytic solution and some expencive stencilpaper for use with a typewriter or matrix printer. They work too, but I'm not happy with the edges on the letters, and it seems the stencil can only be used once or twice.Am I doing it wrong or should I try to find another type of stencils? I paid nearly 40$ for a small bottle of solution so the next time I'd like to make it myself - what do I need ?

For solution (electrolyte) try different levels of morton salt and water or saline solution for contact lense cleaning.
This is a cheap alternative to expensive solutions. Experiment with it, It works for me.
I have not used any of the expensive stuff so it is impossible for me to draw comparisons.
I use it on carbon steel and have not tried it on SS.
Hope this will help.
