Never worked when I tried it on a mallard years ago
I think that the bones are too thick or something
may work on a smaller duck though say a teal or bufflehead
One way for you to find out is give it a try
maybe I did it wrong and that it may work after all

Never worked for me either - ducks or geese

I guess it's a grouse thing

I've seen it done on teal and especially shovelers. I think the spoonies are the perfect size for it, plus the breast is barely tolerable to eat, much less the rest of it. I usually just cut out the breast, unless I want a roaster.

It works on Pheasant, but never tried it on ducks.
