I'm curious about what Numbered limited edition blades were offered with a sterile (no logo or number) blade option.

A buddy showed me a satin SAR8 with machined tigerhide linen micarta that has no markings on the blade at all. I'm sure it's a fake, so I'll offer to take it off his hands cheap... Just need to know how low a number to offer........... :rolleyes: :D

Thanks Hogs!

It's when requested on any LE blades. Was it completely sterile, or just no number?

Is there really any way to know a sterile LE blade from a sterile satin CS version of the same knife (assuming same handles and whatnot)?

I'm no pro but From what I've seen and read, in the pass (2010 or earlier ) you could request to have any LE blade without logo and le# hidden under the scales. As far as I know the tiger hide micarta was only on le's but I could be wrong on that . The FBM LE was one of the last offered like that . Just looked at the release date for the sar8 That might have been the last. Just my two cents

I requested no number, if possible, on my Basic 8 LE.

They processed the order as STERILE. It came with no logo or number.

You scored in the recent Cupidganzaaaa! Below is your order confirmation;

(1) Basic 8 LE with Black Res C STERILE (6-8 weeks)

I suspect it's easier for them to simply not engrave it rather than mess around with the machine settings or complicate the production run.

I guess if you want just the logo, you should ask for the logo only.

Another good example of being careful what you ask for. ;)

Yes. Busse would not mimic an LE unless it was an LE. It should have the Custom Shop logo.

I suspect that the SAR8 in question here was originally lazed, but the lazer's bulb was near end of life, leaving a fainter maker's mark, possibly as easily removed by re-satinizing.

Mine are this way. Tell me the serial numbers on both of these SAR8's below...

If not, then Skunk got Jerry to leave one sterile for his own, and has since sold it. These were not pre order, they were a Busse Company Store (dot com) exclusive model, and were ready for immediate shipping, all ready with #'s and maker's mark and everything.

I ask mainly because of curiosity about a different knife. I have a sterile, satin, full convex SAR4 with the tiger hide...it's now hand smoothed because I hated those machined grooves, but it originally looked identical to a LE SAR4, but was sold to me (new/unused, but second-hand here on the exchange) as a Custom Shop job rather than an LE. Maybe there's a nondescript number under the scales that Busse could probably turn into a history of what the blade is (there was one under the scales of my sterile CS sus scrofa, though I'm only guessing about the ability of Busse to put number and style of blade together if needed). But because I don't believe in non-users, it's really just academic curiosity...that pretty satin SAR4 is pretty well-loved looking now :D

Well I'll be dipped in isht. Looks like one escaped without markings. One for the "I dunno" files, I reckon. :)
