I have seen the word sterile used many times for the description of a Busse, but I really don't know what it means as far as knives are concerned. Can you guys enlighten me???

Sterile in this context refers to no visible markings on the blade, meaning the usual "Busse Combat" or "Busse Custom Shop" logo are not present.

Sterile refers to the fact that there is no Busse Combat or Busse Cusom Shop anywhere on the surface of the blade. To my knowledge the sterile versions are all specialty satin bladed models and I understand that they are found mainly at blade shows.

BTW... thanks for giving me the chance to make post #100.

Here is a sterile Pumpkin Warden:

And, here is the non-sterile (logo'd) version:

Many coated blades have been released in sterile form. See:

lunde is correct, but to clarify his comment: When he says "the usual "Busse Combat" or "Busse Custom Shop" logo", be aware that sterile is quite common, and historically, sterile is probably more common than marked is, for Busse knives.

Thanks for the correction. I don't remember seeing the coated blades, but obsiously there are. My Sterile Pumpkin GW...

Top one logo'd bottom one sterile. Sterile means no identifiable marking, however Busse blades are very unique so it's kind of moot.

as the oldest hog here (thathamguy) can confirm, sterile blades were once the norm. i bought many sterile blades before i found out busse knew his letters.

then i found out he knew his numbers too.

one for skunk one for me
one for skunk two for me
one for skunk three for me....

always drunker than me, what a pisser... :grumpy:
