what are the best/fastest/recommended ways to clean and sterilize a used SAK

just got one

I buy used TSA classics, and they come pretty dirty out of a big box. I just get an old toothbrush and Dawn dish detergent, and clean under warm water. Brush out good with lots of soap, and rinse under very warm water, and once you dry it off, you're good to go. If you're really worried, you can use any anti bacterial liquid hand soap instead of Dawn. It's all good.

Carl.

A final rinse in rubbing alcohol will kill any lingering nastiness after the wash, once the alcohol evaporates off, re-lubricate the pivots.

First wash away all the dirt with warm water and dish soap. Afterward soak it in a 1:10 solution of bleach and water for a couple of minutes. That's the disinfecting method recommended by the CDC.

If you're going to use the toothpick and tweezers then you can buy new ones...There usually around 1$ most places online.

having seen some old guy pick his ears with the reverse end of his sak's tooth pic once :-o
this is without doubt, a most excellent solution!

...and the tweezers are pretty handy to pull nose hairs out.

I would definitely bleach a used SAK and get new tweezers & toothpick.
