The handles of the Sterling Silver knives are not solid Sterling. It is actually a thin "overlay", probably glued to the stainless Gent handle below. Not sure how they did it on the 500, but again, the Sterling is just a thin shell. Clear as mud?
My son has a sterling silver 532 made for the National Rodeo Finals and bought it only because he likes silver. I believe Buck had a extremely limited silver (3 sets ) LE series back in the 80's that had a 112 I dream about. .
I don't remember there being a 501 or 503 in sterling silver but there may be some out there. The 532's I don't believe were sterling silver. I am pretty sure they are aluminum.
Not sure how to check. I'll have to look that up a bit later. There are no markings on them. If they are sterling silver than I got a great deal on these. If I look at the edge of the handles I can tell they are an overlay.
Gedlicks, is there a Hallmark anywhere around the edges of your 532's?
Very nice, I do not recall ever having seen those. Interesting that every one is different.
