Just a quick post about this great knife and sword maker. I bought 2 of Steve's knives from Larry at Knifeart and they are really great knives in the tactical Japanese genre. I went to Steve's website ( www.hawkknives.com ) and left a message for him about how pleased I was with the knives. Imagine my surprise when he called here Wed. night. I was asleep so I had to call him back. We spent 40 minutes on the phone talking about knives and various other topics of mutual interest. He not only makes some very great knives, but he is a great guy and someone who has "been there and done that." Anyone who likes Japanese tacticals needs to add another name to the list of must haves.

I do not own one of his knives but I have seen one of his large tantos. Very nice and tough looking.

If a man can keep alert and imaginative, an error is a possibility, a chance at something new; to him, wandering and wondering are a part of the same process. He is most mistaken, most in error, whenever he quits exploring.

I can second that. A very nice guy with a serious knife. His knives have a heft that has to be felt to appreciate. I got a chance to do that at the NY show, this last weekend.
Very solid and he does a great wrap as well.

I saw one of his knives in a shop in VA & thought it was a Martin or a Heartsfield (sp?)- Tough little buggers! I also had the chance to speak briefly w/ him at the NYC show & I handled the "Persian". It's a handfull. Super Knife & a really nice guy-
I liked that one because the grips on the others taper down toward the rear of the grip & the Persian had something for the pinky/back of the hand to catch against. Even though these knives have a superior rayskin & cord-wrapped grip, I personally prefer something to catch the hand. It's a heavy sucker to be waving around without something to secure it. Just my $0.02

At the recent Chicago knife show, I was looking at Steve Corkum's table, checking out his new neck knife, without touching it. He saw me looking, and told me, "Go ahead and pick it up. You won't break it, I promise you." And he wasn't kidding. Talk about heavy duty!

I'm asking Santa for an Urban Aikuchi from Hawk knives for Christmas...hope I was a good boy!
