I am very fortunate to have just purchased these two beautiful Mammoth Damascus Hunters from Mastersmith Steve Culver. The photos don't do justice to the damascus, which is very detailed and moves when light hits it at different angles. Steve's fit and finish are impecable. I'm honored to own these.

WOW! The shimmer effect is so willing to be in motion. I know how a photo (even your CLEAR ones) only capture the snapshot.

Bravo! Nicely tasteful Western engraving.

Coop, I may ask you to photograph these if you're going to be in San Antonio for the ABS show or Arkansas in Feb. I bought both because I thought they looked good together, a matched set but each unique from the other. I'd love to have some real professional shots of them.

Hi Mark,

They are completely worthy of professional shots. I agree!

Eric will be in San Antonio, and Chuck will preside over the AR show. Ask them. (I only travel to NYC and Atlanta.) Thanks!

That is a special pair. Steve does outstanding work. Congratulations are in order, for sure!

Outstanding!

Steve's work is so tight... All tolerances are dead nuts on.  I'm sure the chatoyance in those blades just dances when being moved around. :D

And Steve is as nice of a guy as you're gonna find. :)

If faced with a choice between these two the only sane response would be to buy both

Terrific. I don't think I've ever seen that Damascus pattern better executed on a small knife.

Thanks to all for the kind compliments!!

I enjoyed building these knives. The engraving artwork is based off of English scroll. But as Jim noted, it is large enough in this application to begin to resemble western bright cut. I really like how it came out and plan to utilize the style some more. I have a hunter with a stag handle, that I may try to engrave with another variation of this artwork and have on my table in Little Rock.

I just got back from the show in Las Vegas. Had a great show there, and only have three hunters left. I hope to build a bowie to put on my table in Arkansas. I'm working on a design that is a combination of two antique bowie styles. I'm doing sketches of the design today and trying to get the symmetry of the knife to suit me. It's an ambitious build to have finished by the AKA Show, but I believe that I can get it done.
