Well, that unbelievable Feather Damascus engraved bowie inspired me to share the 2 examples of Steve's work that I have in my collection, neither can really compare with Buddy's bowie, which is about the nicest knife of its kind I have ever seen, but, still nice and I like them. :) One is a damascus, engraved hunter by Steve, the other is a small bowie by Dean, with engraved bolsters by Dunn.

Terry, regarding what you clarified in that thread, you're right of course, I know Steve is considered by those in the know, among the best makers, but, I guess what I should have said, or meant, was, in the forums he is not as often discussed, nor, at least until recently, his knives as prominently featured as guys like Bailey, Fisk, Newton and others, and I also don't see as many of his knives out there for sale. There just doesn't seem to be as much buzz for lack of a better term as with many of the other makers and Mastersmiths, which of course does not mean his knives aren't as good, and if you need proof, well, just look at that bowie in the other thread. :)

In the picture with the 1911, I'm pretty sure I remember that hunter being offered by Knife-Art some time ago and, I also remember agonizing over whether I could afford it, then, it was marked sold, someone had been kind and ended my suffering, because I really was not in a position to be buying it at that moment in time.

I agree that Steve's engraving in and of itself, is really fine work, I have 2 examples of it, one on my hunter, the other is a Dean small bowie that was engraved by Steve, in fact, this Dean bowie is prominently featured in this April's issue of Blade. Snagged it from Phillip Dos, to whom I am very greatful. :) Phillip gets some awfully sweet knives from time to time.

Anyway, I was going to just add the pics of my knives to the other thread, but didn't want to hijack it, so, I thought it might be better to just start my own, and, I would add, if anybody has any pics of other Dunn knives, whether yours or not, and would like to add them to this threrad, please do, I for one, would love to see more examples of his work.

The Dean bowie has a 5" forged satin blade of 52100 I think, the bolsters are engraved by Dunn with 24K gold inlays, the fossil ivory for the handle is thick, and, well, sick. :) When I see ivory like this, I get weak in the knees and I remember why I love custom knives so much. The ivory handle is adorned with 3 18K gold pins per side. So, here is the Dean/Dunn bowie...

Here is the Dunn hunter, 5" damascus blade, very sweet stag handle, pins and guard are fully engraved, guard has 24k gold inlays. F&F that is about as perfect as it gets.

Man, I just love that Huckleberry. And the damasus pattern on Steve's knife is really beautiful.

Harvey said that was the first one dressed up like that
normally he uses stag or checkered wood ,the bolster had to be flatened to accomodate the engraving...the name Huckleberry comes from a line from the movie Tombstone:
Johnny Ringo: Isn't anyone here man enough to play for blood?
Doc Holliday: I'm your huckleberry
pretty cool eh
the pattern is an old sheffield pattern Harvey found in a book at the Little Rock museum
Now i really feel like crap for letting her go....ARI if Ever I mean EVER you need to move her..."I'm your Huckleberry"
