Steves knives seem to be getting rarer, and with 2 of his already I know first hand the quality of his work. So when I saw a fellow forumite was letting one go I pulled the trigger.

I have now received the piece the specs of which are:

Handle: Ambonya, 12 1/2 " Blade Mosaic Damascus, OAL 18 3/16",Spanish Notch, Sterling Silver spacer and Escution. S guard ,spacer and Butt Cap same Damascus as blade , heat treated to bring out gorgeous Blues,Bronze and Purple Hues.,Leather Sheath by Filicietti.

Its a fantastic blade and deceptively quick, a palm filling handle with a nice heft, balance sits around the spanish notch, which gives it a devastating feel. The mosaic pattern damascus is low contrast, but has a beautiful shimmer, that the low res image does not show.

Cheers,

Stephen

Great score Stepehen (and damned good photo too). Filicietti really knows how to turn out a first class big blade. Please show us the pic of that knife's "little" brother as well when you have the chance.

Aside from the fact that the knife is spectacular  I think Coop better watch his back... that is one kick @ss photograph!

Steve is one of my favorite makers, but I had nothing but trouble when it came to communication from him. He disappeared for months on end. Great knife though.

The photo is very good, but the lighting isn't up to Coop's standards yet.

The lighting is a pale immitation of Coop's , both allegorically and literally, but he is having a huge influence on my development in still photography and sets the standard I hope to achieve in the future.

Yes! great knife. Keith, I haven't heard from Steve in months!

I may be wrong, but I think I heard he quit making knives. Anyone else here this?

He makes some of the most gorgeous knives I have ever seen.

I have heard a number of different things, but I have yet to hear anyobody say "I have spoken direrctly with Steve and he says the situation is ..." I'd sure like to know, though.

Getting back to the knife (and I've been back many times :) ) - it reminds me of something I really like about Steve's work - he always seems to use the very best of handle materials for his knives. You never seem to see a piece of wood that is just "okay" or merely "nice", it is always in the "as good as it gets" category. I like that.

Roger

PS - I lost a number of knife pics in a recent computer crash - if anyone has any Filicietti pics I'd be grateful if you'd e-mail them to me. There were a number of nice ones posted on knifeart back in the day.

John Green(sartech) and were talking and he said he is making gunstocks.Something about Remington 700's and storing cartridges in the stocks?
John knows him pretty well.I'll get more info.

BTW stunning piece of Steves.

Good on both counts, Stephen. I'm flattered to be referred to. :)

Note to self—these guys are climbing up my back with their photos. I'd better watch out... Maybe toss in a little 'misinformation'... ;)

Heyyyy, ummm, Stephen... You need to correct a little white balance and trim the fotzmore phasing sequence 20% on your white/black clip point. That'd be what I would do...

He he he! That should buy me a couple of weeks as he tries to figure out what the hell I said!! :D

Yes, I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Coop, your Photopiezoelectric Sequencer appears to be a little off, and, come to think of it, your Ameobaphonic Controller is also acting up a bit, but really, keep at it, you'll get there... :)

OK, now for the truth, excellent pics, excellent knife, and there is no such thing as a Photopiezoelectric Sequencer... :)

The knife and the pic are great.

Well, on the photo you might want to pull the anamorphic fibulator slide back just a tad, and possibly boost the ganixels in the alpha channel.

Well I tried adjusting the inter-aliasing white balance proxy converter, but ended up with a small strain to my left buttock, so didn't bother going any further.
