To JKD and FMA enthusiasts-

I am pleased to announce that the renowned Steve Grody will be in Western Europe during the month of June 2005! Steve will be available for both seminars and private lessons. Do not miss this rare chance to work with one of the most highly respected instructors in Jeet Kune Do and Kali.

For those unfamiliar with his background, Steve trained at the Inosanto Academy for thirteen years, and was Dan Inosanto’s primary substitute instructor for five years. Dan Inosanto called Steve “one of the best instructors to come out of the academy.” He is widely recognized as “the instructor’s instructor” and in demand around the world for his innovative approach to JKD and Kali.

Steve also trained privately with Edgar Sulite, founder of Lameco Eskrima, for seven years. Guro Sulite respected Steve’s understanding of Lameco enough to have him help organize and direct his video series, and awarded him instructorship due to both his knowledge of Lameco principles, and his ability to execute them with power, spontaneity and fluidity of movement.

Grody focuses on a progressive drilling method that instills instinctive function and proper technique. In addition to his own unique drills and methods, he presents JKD and Eskrima drills rarely seen and not part of the familiar public curriculum. He is also the author of 18 videotapes and a regular television series.

Seminar formats include two-day and single-day. Seminar subjects available include, but are not limited to:
Applied footwork drills
Offense and defense drills using broken rhythm
JKD trapping
Time-hitting (“sectoring”)
Kali empty hands
knife timing and distance drills
Real-time single stick drills
Siniwalli reaction and loose-feed drills
Lubud, chi sao and mixed sensitivity drills.

To learn more about what he offers, including a training overview, instructional formats and information on his eighteen videotapes (including a four-tape series on JKD trapping and five on Kali empty hands), take a look at his web site at http://www.grody-jkd-kali.bigstep.com .

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I can be reached by email at oodaworks@earthlink.net . If you are interested in booking a seminar or private training with him please contact me by February 30, as I am handling the arrangements.

Best regards,

Jay Hinton
