I was at my local knife shop today looking to pick up a new fixed blade and saw something that really caught my eye. I picked up this custom Steve Voorhis 5" blade. I really don't know anything about this maker or knife. The back of the sheath says #2 - 5" so I am pretty sure this is model #2. Does anyone have any information on this knife? The handle is some kind of wood. The egronomics on this knife are superb...its what drew me to it...it fits in my hand just perfectly. Here are some pics.

Don't have any info that would help, that's one hellavu very nice knife though!!

Steve Voorhis is a maker from Kansas. Knife is probably 5160 steel. Handle looks like a pakkawood combination. Good user and his fit and finish is always good. Better known for his big bowies and fighters.

His larger Bowies and Fighters are bargains in the secondary market, selling in the $300 to $500 range mostly. Of course it all depends on the buyer and seller, but I'd value the above knife in the $175 to $225 area.

i've got a voorhis with a similar blade shape to the one pictured, different guard and pins. came in a pouch type sheath. about a quarter inch thick, tapering to both ends. really nice balance. no idea how to contact him, but i think i heard he was at a.g. russel's knife show this year. have a couple others by him, including a nifty push dagger.

He mostly makes what he wants to make and sells it, rather than taking custom orders. His fit and finish are always superb. He's much fonder of hollow grinds than I am, but his geometries are very good and his knives always have a very lively balance. argel55 is right, the steel is almost certainly 5160.
