I’d like to hear your experience with your Steve Voorhis knife/knives, since there isn’t a whole lot of info about him out there.

Didnt Charlie Mike have a SV knife at one point? He tried it out in his quest for THE fixed blade to EDC in his 'CM carry' sheath, I believe.
An awesome looking blade.

Lives in Inman, Kansas. Primary steel is 1095, his signature is the mirror polish he achieves. Getting a knife from him can be difficult, as he's backlogged most of the time. I've been watching his work for more than 20 years, he's only gotten better. He used to rent a table at our local gun-show a couple of times a year. But other dealers buy him out within an hour, a table is not worth the money. If you can find any of his work, it's good stuff.

As for a mirror polish, CM modded his SV knife, as he did most/all his knives. IIRC it didnt have a mirror polish. By the time, I asked him about the knife, he had already sold it and moved on to the next knife.

I really like SV's classic Bowie knives, including his version of the Iron Mistress.

5160, I've handled some at the Kansas City RK shows, but never owned one. Many of his knives are in classic styles; Loveless, Lile, Cooper, Randall, etc. They appear to be well made out of quality materials.

You are correct, it is 5160. I think he was using 1095 when I first met him, but that was '94 or '95, and I've slept since then, so I could be wrong. I don't even mind being wrong, I like 5160 better anyway, especially for big knives. Until our last move, I had his contact information, but I haven't seen it, or Steve, since...

I don't own a Voorhis, btw. I tried to commission a knife once, but it would have taken a couple of years due to his backlog, so it never got done. There are a lot of his knives out there, but he's still not very well-known. I think he likes it that way.
