I wanted Steven's input on how much he thinks his AK is worth. The reason I'm asking this is that I don't want to overcharge (or undercharge) for the new AKs and Panawals. Of course, since Steven is the only one here who has any idea of the quality of these babies, I figured he'd be the best person to ask. So, if you wanted to and were going to sell me your AK (forget that it's a one-of-a-kind), tell me how much you'd charge me.

Craig,

Don't know if you are referring to the 22" AK you had on sale earlier. I got one for $100. I was impressed with the quality of it. The chakma and karda were also proportionally bigger. The chakma stands alone as a usable knife.

I can tell you I think it's worth more than $100. How much more... hard to say. For me, even $150 would have been a good buy.

Oh Yeah... I tested at camp several weeks ago. It's quite the firewood splitter. I left it next to the log pile. I doubt this is a carry around since it's quite heavy at around 3lbs. The handle of this thing is thicker than any khuk I've handled. I actually had a hard time wrapping my fingers around with my small hands. But surprisingly it didn't slip around. The caution is that I only used for vertical chopping...

I was actually referring to the one-of-a-kind AK with scrolled buttcap (in pricing it, ignore that it is a one-of-a-kind and rate it on quality and workmanship).

Thanks (great hearing the other story about the larger AK).

Craig, the quality of the AK to which you refer is, without a doubt, excellent. However, I cannot put a monetary value on it, beyond what I paid for it. Though I like the knife a great deal, it has no sentimental value to me that would give it worth beyond the usual market considerations. Bottom line, it's worth whatever I can get for it if, and when, I decide to sell or trade it.

However, to answer your hypothetical question about how much I would take for it right now, I would first have to figure out how much I paid for it (which I don't remember). What I would do is get that information, then add enough profit margin to allow me to buy "up" -- to buy yet another, more expensive khuk.
