Last night was the monthly meeting of the Haywood Community College knife group in Clyde, NC. We had a good turnout and the crowd enjoyed a great demonstration by Steven Rapp. Actually it was two demonstrations. First Steven showed how he grinds his blades on a disc sander, and then he demonstrated making a nickel silver sheath for a San Francisco type knife. He clearly explained the materials, tools, and processes involved. After forming the two halves of the sheath (using a fancy special tool, a claw hammer!) he soldered them together and sanded the sheath body smooth. His years of experience made making the sheath look easy. Here are a couple of pictures.
