GOOD TIMES........

I got this beautiful little Menefee Front Pocket Trapper from Vince today.:)

This little guy is a beauty and it is already in my pocket.......

BAD TIMES........

I took my beloved Puma 675 Stockman and pried open a steel tin.....with predictable results. I snapped the tip of the Sheepsfoot off.:grumpy:

It was a really stupid thing to do. I was in the rain in a storm and I needed to open the tin quickly and I grabbed the first thing to hand.
The ridiculous thing is I had a screwdriver and my Busse FFBM in the car........I am a dumbass:confused:

I will ask one of our local knifemakers to gently reshape the blade but it will never really be the same.....What was I thinking.....

Steven that sucks about the Puma. Hopefully someone can reprofile it.

But I think you need to go ahead and send me the Menefee so you won't be tempted to use it as a prybar. :D

Steven that sucks about the Puma but with the Menefee I wouldn't be too sad. Lucky you! I love that knife.

That Menefee is a beauty!

I'm sorry to hear about your Puma. I had a similar experience with my Eye Brand stockman. I was oiling the scales and handles a while back when I dropped it, straight onto the main clip blade's tip. Took off a couple of mm at the tip. I've repaired it for the most part, but the lines on the blade will never be the same. Look on the bright side though, snapped tips are very traditional.

Steven, Steven, Steven.... :D

Thats a bummer about the Puma. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a knife you didn't like. The Menafee is a beauty, and surely helped ease your pain...

We all have our moments. Unfortunately, it seems they happen more often as we get older

That Puma will fix up nicely and what's more, you'll have a one-of-a-kind knife. I think it's in one of jackknife's stories where he talks about knives being sort of like a metaphor for life in that they show all the dings and nicks accrued over a lifetime of hard work just like we do.

Better damaged in use than wasted in obscurity in the safe:D

That new Menefee is a remarkable acquisition though. Now just don't go prying with THAT straightaway :thumbup:

Thanks Vince. It took about average for Priority Mail which can be rather slow before Xmas.

It is a beautiful pair of stag scales and it is the first custom slippie I have decided to edc.
It will go with me to IWA in Germany in March and to Blade in June.

I am really going to enjoy having it and I thank you so much.........:)
(I promise not to pry with it :D)

I just did a search for puma stocmans. They look nice. Can you show a picture of the whole knife?
Thanks

Dont worry.I predict the Puma will look good as new.Ive fixed way worse.Good you didnt use the clip! They never look right again when closed with the big gap.

Hi Steven. Glad to see I am not the only one up this time of night here. Bummer on the tip, the Menefee is a beauty!!!

Awesome frontpocket! The Puma will look fine after some work. I think you had more good news than bad in my opinion.

How large is your front pocket trapper?

To bad about the puma, but it should be ok again after some work. A nice thing with a sheepfoot is that you can rework the spine to a rounder form without making it look aukward att all. On that blade, I can see the curve of it, just a thad steeper and no one but you will think about the difference.
