October 3, 1954,52 years ago today was the birthday of Blues guitarist extraordinaire,SRV.
He died in an helicopter crash leaving Alpine Valley,East Troy,Wisconsin on August 27,1990.
36 days before his 36th birthday.
He and his incredible music are deeply missed,he was one of the few musicians from my generation who had to be seen to be believed, his music seemed to flow through him from above. :)
Stevie's approach to guitar playing,tune 1/2 step low(ala Hendrix),to save strings and his voice,his advice,"Tune Low,Play Hard and Floor It".  :D

He is one of my favorite blues musicians. My cousins and brother hadn't heard of him until I played them a few songs. Now, they can't stop playing his songs.

Great bluesman. Bigger in my book than Eric, although I'm a big Clapton fan.

Well, alright.....ONE of the greatest live albums ever.

Live Alive and Live at the El Mocambo make it awfully hard to chose the best live album. (Or the SRV set with the Austin City Limits recordings).

Stuck in SoCal and far from Auditorium Shores. Sorry I won't make the pilgrimmage to give Stevie his annual birthday bath. :( (Damn non-music appreciatin' pigeons!!! Frickin' flying rats! )
