The Filipino Combat Arts Forum isn't the right forum for a thread about a "Stickfighting Tournament"

K;

Do you use tournaments, such as this one, for training, competition, or something else?

What are your expectations when you attend a tournament, in broad terms. I can understand if you say that you try to eliminate expectations but still, one goes to a hockey game to see hockey rather than football.
What is your mindset?

I use the tournaments the competition and getting used to fighting strangers(different sizes and techniques). There is a different adrenalin dump fighting a stranger compared to fighting someone from class. I can go many rounds in class and not get real tired, but fighting in tournaments make me a lot more tired. I haven't done well(I fought hard, just didn't win) in past WEKAF-type tournaments because of my preferred style of fighting. I like to hit very hard a few times and move around, then hit hard again. From my experience(I could be wrong) it seems that the way to win in WEKAF fights is from the number of hits that contact your opponent(and of course your blocking, footwork, etc. skills). My Guro(he's hosting the tournament) is thinking of having a limited armor division. I'll try that, because it tends to make people stay at a realistic range and use more footwork and body movement. Win or lose, it will still be a good learning experience and some fun too.
