Hi All,

Dan I checked out your pics of the hog hunt and would like to ask your opinion as well as the rest of the members for ideas of what makes a great sticking knife? I hunt down here in Australia for hogs and other game and would like to commission a new knife to try out on swine.

Any and all input wanted with the results ending up in steel by Dan , I look forward to your ideas.

Jim

great thread!

The guide told us a double-edged knife with a 7"-9" blade would do the trick. The rest is for fun. :D

Some people use bayonets!

Hi all,

Hi Dan,

I have a few ideas on this, first is a broad blade of at least 2in accoss the widest point of the blade, the other is that its double edged and at least a 7inch blade,

Anyone else got any ideas?

All the best,

Jim

Craig Camerer used a 2" tall, 8-9" long bowie blade for his hog-knife. Did great!

I think the most important thing is that it tapers good (ie. isn't a sharpened prybar) and is very pointy/stabby!

Hi Dan,

Was that a mercworx in one of the pics?

I agree about the sharpened pry bar comment, I am looking for something that is easy to insert that cuts a nice big hole and isnt to heavy.

Willemail you about this tonight.

All the best,

Jim

(specs on the pic)

I believe the height is around 1-1.25" tall. I have a new one coming with a 1.5-1.75" tall blade.

I'll get a pic when I get closer to being finished.

Thanks!

Dan
