Sticking to "The Code"...

...the BladeForums Code!

Been lusting for a new Great Eastern folder for a while now. After drooling over various pictures (so many beautiful patterns to choose from!) I finally narrowed my search down to three: GEC Tidioute #15 (Rust Red Jig Bone), GEC Northfield Un-X-LD #85 Bullet End Jack (Burnt Stag) and GEC Northfield #61 Two Blade Congress (Greenbriar Jig Bone.) I was frantically wracking my brain trying to decide on which one to order, but then I remembered The Code: "buy 'em both!" or in this case "buy 'em all!"

And so I did.

My wallet hurts so good, but I'm looking forward to receiving my order in the New Year! I figure a trio of new GECs is such a great way to kick off 2013--kind of sets the standard for the year! :)

Anyone else stick to The Code recently? :D

Yeah, got a little out of hand this month and last, it was the Holidays and all so, well... :D

Can't wait to see pics, congrats Brett!

Very nice selections.

I can tell from here which one's my favorite*; how 'bout you? ;)

*Though it would be hard to [have to] choose it over the other two. Hence, The Code.

Dang! Talk about putting a fella on the spot! :D

Well, the #85 is about as flawless as I can imagine. Absolutely amazing fit & finish, no gaps anywhere, superb walk & talk, and great stag! I can't fault it at all. But it's a chunky little monkey and will likely see the least pocket time of the three to be perfectly honest.

The #61 Congress looks good and feels good but probably has the worst fit & finish of the lot (which is not to say horrible--only not as good as the other two.) Holding it up to the light, I can see a lot of light coming through--and even though this will have zero impact on function, it was (admittedly) a bit disappointing. But it took me all of ten seconds to get over it; certainly won't stop me from carrying and using this guy! Great knife and overall I'm satisfied.

The winner for me is the #15. Love it, love it, love it. Nearly flawless in all regards (very slight gap between one liner and the scales, but that's being a very picky bastid... :D)

All three are fantastic overall and I'm very pleased with all of them!:D

A fine trio of GEC's. If you can't relate to one of these at least, you are in serious trouble. Those are all great looking knives. That red bone boy's knife would look quite good with my white owl.

Hey! That's the one I picked from way over here. :)

Thanks for sharing your impressions. I'm sorry to hear about the fit and finish issues, but glad you're pleased with the knives overall.

So this is what chaos looks like?

You have no idea, brutha! I also received a CRK Mnandi in Box Elder today and I am way more excited about my Great Easterns...

True story :)

Thanks, P! But it ain't no thang! That's just the critical eye talkin'... each of them is absolutely gorgeous! No regrets!

Thanks to all for the comments! You folks are awesome!

Great choices, Brett. Those three guys will follow you for a long time. Nice, just plain nice :)

Great looking trio indeed. Been eyeing that half congress pattern for awhile now. Any chance you can stand them up and take a shot of them looking down from above to compair the thicknesses of them? I know darn, you have to show off your awsome knives some more :D

Oh and I have owned some CRK and other custom OHO's and got rid of them all after finding traditionals, just better tools for life in my opinion
