Sticky Axis Lock on Mini Presidio.

Hi guys. I was hoping some of you can help me out. When I flick open my new mini Presidio, and then try to close it, the Axis bar has trouble being pulled back. It seems to stick for a split second before closing. It feels like using it hard would make it even harder to close. Has anyone encountered this, and what can be done about it?

I have experienced this with a couple different models. It has always worked itself out with use.

Thanks guys. It already seems to be getting a bit better. I put gun oil on the mechanism and flipped the Axis lock a bunch of times.

My 520 came the same way, after a drop of oil and a thousand openings and closings it was perfect

Just kinda funny, this is something I'd never consider doing with any other locking system than the Axis. A thousand openings/closings with some systems serve to wear them to the point of looser tolerances. Just another reason to love it, IMO.

I've found on my knives that a light polishing and/or application of gun grease to the liner where the axis lock slides will really smooth out the action. After doing this I can usually open the axis lock with one finger from either side whereas before it would require pushing on both sides.

The Axis lock typically wears in nicely all on it's own. Spend some time with your new knife and if what you're reporting doesn't change, say in the next week or so of regular use, then something like Tuf-Glide, a dry lube, could make a difference. You're fully covered by BKC's warranty in any case, so no worries.

I'm wondering if some sort of cleaner spray would work for this? Contact cleaner may help since it evaporates and supposedly doesn't leave any residue.
