Sticky Detent Ball on Para 2

Recently I bought a Para 2 and although it flicks open very fast, if I move the blade slowly I can hear a sort of metal on metal sound. I was playing around with it, and found that if I pulled back on the compression lock all the way, and don't let the detent ball touch the blade, the sound is gone. What about the ball causes this problem?

Thanks for helping out

Probably just needs a bit of lube...

I've had this happen on a couple of mine (not any of my Para2s, but others with detent balls, and a tiny bit of lube directly on the ball did the trick every time.

One of mine does this occasionally, either a bit of lube or simply washing it is with soap and water should take care of it.

I've had this happen with one of my well used para's. I took it apart and tried polising the area the ball contacts and it didn't seem to help. I then threw it in an ultrasonic cleaner and it got worse. I didn't realize at the time that you shouldn't put ball bearings in a sonic cleaner. Since I already had the knife apart I treated it with some frog lube and it's been smooth ever since.

Thanks for the input. I'll try washing it out first, and if that doesn't seem to work, I will find something to lube it with. If anybody has more suggestions, please tell me!

What's the problem with the ultrasonic cleaner and bearings? The vibrations damage the surface finish of the bearing?
