Just received an inkosi, awesome little knife. Wondering though if any other owners are experiencing a sticky lock. Im hoping it will smoothen out with time but neither my sebenza's nor my umnumzaan had any issues out of the box.

Maybe it's just a one off and not model specific but I think the channel which the ceramic ball travels up and down is causing the issues.

Curious to hear what others are experiencing.

My Inkosi has a pretty sticky lock too. On mine, if you look at the channel in the light, the divot from the lock is more towards the bottom of the channel which has made a little spot where it sticks there on the lower edge of the channel. I kept meaning to send it in to get it fixed but I was so bummed about it that I put it in a drawer and just forgot about it. I guess it time to box it up and just send it off.

Sorry to hear your Inkosi's got issues too. The more I handle mine the more it bothers me. Pretty disappointed I'll have to send a brand new knife back for repairs from Australia. I know Chris reeve's has excellent customer service so I'm not stressed, but it'll still probably be a month or more until I get it back.

Mine is slightly sticky as well. I am hoping it with smooth out with use.

Thanks for the replies. I'm also hoping its will smoothen out. In the meantime I'll shoot Chris reeve's an email about it.
Just find it odd that in a short period, three people are reporting the same problem. Maybe it's by design and the lock needs to be broken in.

Whats the dob of yours? I got one of the first ones and mines silky smooth. I dont remember off hand the dob but ill post it up later tonight.

Got a Lefty a couple of days ago and it's perfect as far as I've used it so far.

Birth date on mine is the 12/22/15.

It's good to hear you guys got some good ones that were received as intended. Mine must of been one of a few bad ones that got through QC.
Kind of bummed, the reason I spent 600AUD with shipping on a knife is so I don't have to deal with these issues.

I would take it apart and clean it, and see if that solves the problem. If not, call CRK Monday and see what they say. Maybe they have some other idea that will prevent you from having to send it all the way back to Idaho.

Yea I thought the same thing. But after disassembling, cleaning and lubing the stickiness is still there. I do believe I found the cause of the problem though. I'll wait for Chris Reeve to respond to my email before posting any of my speculations on a open forum.

Maybe a tiiiiiny dab of grease on the ceramic ball would do the trick?

I just handed my inkosi to my wife to cut a tag off some cloths and when she closed it i could tell it clicked or "stuck" a little. Wondering if it had to do with the motion or mechanics of closing it. I can tell she puts more lateral force when closing framelocks vs straight out force.

Lateral force would try to push the ceramic ball off its intended "trench" and possibly cause a feeling of stickyness.

353, a little bit of grease definitely helps but it still doesn't get rid of the issue. To be honest after opening/closing it a bit during the weekend it has gotten a lot better.

Steel addiction, I understand exactly what your saying and believe that's one of the problems with mine. If I unlock it in any other way then to how I've been doing it consistently, it gets very sticky almost stuck even.

I don't understand, if you can readily close the knife with one hand, how is "experiencing a sticky lock" a problem?

Wondering if this issue ever got any better after some breaking in...?
I am really tempted to order one but trying to decide if it may be better to wait until most places restock, maybe CRK needed to make a few tweaks to help this issue some guys were having with the new ball groove?
Just curious thanks.

Most of us here are true fans of CRK and should understand that we are basically guniea pigs when they release new knives/designs. (Think of a newly released car model)

I had issues with my brand new/just released Sebenza 25 when i got it(i acquired a first run)It was well known and advertised as having some slight issues.

To me it wasnt a big deal because i knew CRK was NOT going to leave me out in the cold/screw me. I merely put it in a box, sent it to them, they fixed it along with an awesome signed letter from Mrs Anne explaining what happened, and returned it to me along with a check for my shipping that i paid to send it to them....really? What company does this?

I dont own an Inkosi, but my advice to everyone is to give CRK all the benefit in the world, and eventually it will all work out. In the long run, your particular knife will be more special/worth more:)

Im not saying that everyone here has bitter feelings about these new knives, but im just saying this mostly to give everyone who has issues some reassurance.

Those who have both an Inkosi and Small Seb how do you like the Inkosi? How is feel and hand and blade length? Also how do you like pocket clip angle? To me it is fairly similar to the small sebenza in size. I have a small and and love it. I do wish the clip didn't push on the lock bar, but otherwise I think the design if perfect.
