the lockbar on my 4 week old sebenza is supersticky what can i do about that ..its sticky to the point where i actually need two hands to close it...

It's my understanding that a little stickiness is considered normal in titanium framelocks. Some would argue that a sticky lock is safer since it prevents the lock from accidentally disengaging. That being said, a lock that takes two hands to close is in my opinion unacceptable and should be looked at. You may want to consider sending it in to CRK.

Before you do that though, you might want to try taking it apart and cleaning it and make sure not to pinch a washer when putting it back together. Another "fix" would be to take a graphite pencil or sharpie and mark up the face of the lockbar where it makes contact with the tang.

Probably stupid of me to ask, but just to be clear, have you taken it apart and cleaned it? Oil/lube/etc. on a lock bar can attract dirt and grime which can lead to a sticky lock.

Reports of sticky locks with CRKs are pretty uncommon from what I've seen, and none of my five have had it at any point. I'd send it in if it is that bad.

The titanium is heat treated in order to make a harder contact surface for the blade/lock interface.

This usually prevents major sticky lock issues, however, it has happened that Ti has had heat treating issues and gauging of the lock face is the end result.

Try rubbing pencil led on the back of the blade, unless gauging accors it should smooth out, or else there is a issue and CRK will take care of you.

Titanium is not a perfect alloy and inperfections in a batch can happen. If that is also the case it is still under warrenty.

I forgot to ad. It can happen that some bead blasting beads can cause sticky lock. Happened on my custom. But after some weeks it stopped.

Just take a pencil and put a few marks on the back of the tang where the lock meets.

Has the sticky lock continued? Is it any way easier to disengage yet?

Pencil: It has something to do with the graphite in the pencil I believe. I dont really know more then that but it does work on locks unless there is a real problem.

If the lock bar looks like this (gauging), there is a problem (not my pictures) and you should send it in.

Have you tried using a Sharpie pen on the blade tang? Apply sharpie pen on the blade tang where in contacts with the lock bar. Let it try for a minute or two then you can open and close your Sebenza. Pretty simple solution but works all the time.

If the problem continuous contact CRK and send the knife in. I will do that if mine ever creates any problems but thus far no issues and I have been tracking the lock engagement and wear since I got it. It only increased marginally and has been going strong for over a year in my EDC rotation. The marks on the lock of the Insingo is exactly where the sharp corner of the blade rides over the lock face. I believe it to normal wear and tear.

Glad I could help somewhat.
