Sticky: WHAT DOES "CONUS" MEAN?

Yes, not a monster deal that it is used incorrectly 94.7% of the time in the exchange. But am I the only one that this bugs to death? And I don't even live in AK or HI.

Got to love it when a seller will list out a dozen "rules" that must be followed or accepted, then states, "ships First Class or Priority, CONUS ONLY - NO INTERNATIONAL!". I know there are a few (very few) exceptions, but for the most part, any USPS air service will reach all of US (and territories) for the same price. At least in terms of USPS.

I understand UPS & FEDEX GROUND services are completely different animals. But it appears that many (most?) of those I see using CONUS incorrectly are almost always using US Postal anyway. Some even go to the trouble of spelling out "Continental US", and still not get it.

Do sellers not know that USPS Air Services, service ALL US for an equal price? Or do they think CONUS means United States? Or are there really that many using it, that REALLY only want to deal with lower 48 for some reason? (Looking at you Alaska....yer juss two dumb to own knifes. :D).

Good suggestion? Bad suggestion? Or has my current migraine just put me over the edge of logic and reason? Or am I simply wrong?

Throwing it out there. Oh, and @Spark, in keeping with today's theme, I expect full cooperation and resolution within 12.7 seconds, or I will be filing a complaint with PayPal, US Postal Service, and NCIS. ;)

I think that it is likely a matter of people that don't know any better copying language from other ads. Some probably don't even know what it means... or that a flat rate box will go to Alaska and Hawaii for the same price.

You are probably correct. But since it's repeated and copied SOOOO often, I thought maybe a sticky PSA could be of some value. Even if for no other reason than upping the quality of our little corner of the world.

I state US shipping only to make it a little clearer.
That's all 50 states, USPS Priority flat rate is the same price to all.
And fees & shipping are always included...;)

I think people don’t realize a small USPS flat rate box ships to Hawaii, Alaska and US territories for the same price as the mainland.

You don’t actually have to tie it to the back of a turtle and have it swim to me if I buy something from you.
