stiff leg 42...what's wrong?

Hey guys,
I'm posting this question for a friend.
He just recieved a Benchmade 42.
His problem is that the handle with the latch gets stuck when it's halfway open/closed (basically when the blade is perpendicular to the handle).
-Is this common?
-How do you fix it?

He just replied back to me, I told him to wash it, lube it, and losen the pin.
He did it and it helped but he wants to know if it's going to be a problem.
He says he thinks the washer might be bent. Anyone have any comment on that?

Just loosen the torx screw in the handle.

I told him to do that before I posted and he did and it worked.
We'd like to know if it's a common thing for it to be like this.

Yes, a too tight torx screw will imoblize the handle.

It is there for adjusting it to your preference. On the older Benchmade models they used a steel pin that would eventually loosen up without being able to fix or adjust it without replacing the pin. Hence the idea for the adjustable torx screws.
