Unless I'm suffering the early onset of Alzheimer's I still keep coming across trails in my local park that I haven't taken before. The one I found today did actually lead to my usual trails but I'm pretty sure some of it was new to me.

I was hoping that this wasn't named for factual purposes !

With the sunlight breaking through the tree canopy it had an almost magical feel to it...

We eventually reached my favourite view point in the park, you can just about make out Mt Baker in the distance....

Back near the parking lot I found this bundle of sticks that had been cut, maybe they were for making arrows ? I believe the wood was Ocean Spray which was used for arrows by the first nation people on the Island.

Awesome. I seem to find new trails here and there in the area that I am in all the time, love it! That Cougar Hollow sounds cool, and spooky though  :D

We get the occasional Cougar sighting in the area but mainly they are a little more up Island.

Pit, awesome view to have in your "back yard". Don't worry about the Alzheimer's right now, it's that "half-heimers" creepin' up on ya' my man, trust me . . . . :)
Great shots once again, and now Snickers has officially turned into a "poser" . . . an extra round of dog treats tonight to celebrate.
Hope you are feeling a little better buddy.
Be safe.

Man--I'm starting to get very jealous

Better fly me up there--I'll check your current mental status

Better be safe--you know...

I bet they're 1000 years old!

Nice pictures as always, pitdog. You're probably right about those being arrow shoots, although it's curious why anybody would go to the trouble of harvesting them and then just leave them laying there. Maybe the cougar got him???

Hey Doc, they were at the parking lot so I'm thinking they spotted the tree and cut em early on so left them there while they went for their hike. I sometimes do the same with fatwood to save carrying it round the entire hike with me...that's my guess anyway !

Great pics as usual.

This piece of trail looks very well constructed and armored.

Who maintains your local trails? Are they mountain bike-able?

Yeah the Flu's almost gone now Dennis, I wish I could take out with me and the dogs over here. Maybe they'll invent one of those teleporter machines off Star trek before long !:D:thumbup:
