I've heard nothing but good things about still and I work at a still dealer so there is no worries about getting one but I haven't heard of how good it is.

if you're talking about the splitting hatchet, it's just fine. it's NOT a hatchet, though. it's a short/light splitting axe. I got one for my wife to make kindling with (so she'd stay out of my axe stash). it works well for light splitting duties. I would not attempt to use it for normal hatchet-type-things. it's got the wrong weight/shape/profile/edge for that.

made by oxhead, as are all the stihl axes. good steel, decent handle, comes sharp enough for its intended use.

yes I do mean stihl* my iPhone auto corrected it to still and if your talking about the actual axe which is the PA 100 then you've got the wrong idea but if your actually talking about the smaller hatchet type axe, I guess you could say, which is the PA 20 then thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. I saw it in the catalog today and I've been wanting to buy a camping type hatchet for sometime and the description made it out to be quite small and it said for camp use in making kindling

yep - I got the boss the PA20. you don't want that for normal hatchet-y situations for reasons I hinted at above. better to get something else.

alright thanks for the help what hatchet would you recommend then?

your budget is ___________?

if under 60 dollars, get a Husky 13" hatchet (just don't let your employer know you got one!)
if over 100 dollars, get a GB -- which model is up to you. the mini is awfully nice, the kubben axe (hand hatchet) is awfully nice, the wildlife hatchet and small forest axe are awfully nice. I would probably pick the small forest axe for a one-size-for-all-uses tool, though.

yeah, they have (or did in the past, at least) have some good prices on the wetterlings products. that might fill the 60 to 100 dollar void in my above recs.

Wetterling has hand axes from 10 inches to 20 inches in length and varying head weights for under $100. Great axes.

Husky and GB are the only two worth looking at? what about Condor , Vaughan , wetterlings , Cold steel , Plum , And all the others I am forgetting?

they're the only two on the list of presented options I would bother with, unless he finds a good deal on the wetterlings stuff.

he asked for my recommendations. he didn't ask for a comprehensive list of options. if those are your recommendations, add them to the pile.
